Everything you need to excel in interviews
Interviews can be a nerve wrecking experience for anybody especially if you are not prepared. We face a lot of interviews in different situations all through our life. But today the word interview is more or less synonymous to jobs. Today, interviewing has taken a lot of forms. Be it a conference call, telephonic interview or the traditional face-to-face interview. Despite this, the formula to succeed in an interview has remained unchanged. Let’s throw some light on how to excel in interviews.
1. Research the company beforehand. The ads of the Job site or newspapers give you enough leads to research the company and the jobs on offer. Knowing about the company and the work profile beforehand goes a long way in convincing the interviewer that you are serious about the job.
2. You should listen very carefully to what the interviewer asks. Asking him to repeat a question is often considered a lapse in concentration and taken negatively. The more you understand the employer’s question, the better you can tailor you response so that it is compact and meaningful. Do not unnecessarily lengthen you answers. They may be quite annoying and fatal if irrelevant.
3. Always have some questions. Most interviews give you an opportunity to ask questions about the position or the company. Asking good intellectual questions creates a very positive impression in the eyes of the interviewer. It reflect you inquisitiveness to know more about the company or the position offered.
4. Some basic interview etiquettes are finally what you need. Never be in a hurry to enter or leave the interviewer’s office. Properly greeting the interviewer is must. Wait for the interviewer to ask you to sit. Be polite in you responses and listen carefully and patiently. Never rush in your answers and make sure you leave the room in a non hurried manner.
5. Never fake your profile or make guesses in answering a question. A wrong or faked answer is negative. Instead be honest in saying that you don’t know the answer. Be confident in your speech and body postures.
Implementation of the above techniques would definitely help you come out of interviews smiling and confident. For more information on Careers and Jobs, keep reading our article or visit our website.
